Dr. MaryHelen Staruch

Veterinarian

Dr. MaryHelen Staruch graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Dr. Staruch’s experience is broad and has been focused on companion animals. A more extensive bio is coming soon!

Dr. Renée Richards

Veterinarian

Dr. Renee Richards joined the Coastal Veterinary team in October 2017. After graduating from Shippensburg University in pre-veterinary medicine in 1991 and the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine in 1995, Dr. Richards practiced in Pennsylvania for the next 22 years. For 18 of those years, Dr. Richards was a practice owner. Her special areas of interest include internal medicine and dentistry.
A new resident to Delaware, Dr. Richards is enjoying exploring the beautiful beaches, often with her dogs Lulu, a Welsh Terrier/PBGV mix, and Angus, a Welsh terrier. When not working, Dr. Richards enjoys spending her free time traveling, biking, hiking and running.

Bob Golden

Practice Manager

With a career history including time in the US Army, twenty years as an executive with GEICO, time managing the family business and holding an interest in a real estate company, Bob brings many varied and valuable talents to the position of Practice Manager at Coastal Veterinary. His experience and knowledge have allowed him to contribute to all aspects of building and managing a busy veterinary practice. Bob shares his free time with his wife, Lettie, and while they currently reside in Frederick, MD, they look forward to becoming full time Delaware residents in the near future.

Meegan O'Donnell

Assistant Office Manager

Meegan is the Assistant Office Manager here at Coastal Veterinary, as well the Manager of the Heavenly Hound Hotel located behind the hospital. She worked in the IT field for many years before transitioning into the veterinary field. Meegan worked at Banfield as a pet counselor, educating pet owners on joys of owning a pet, before working her way up into management. She then worked at VCA Animal Hospital as a manager, and continued using her great client relation skills in the receptionist role.

Meegan grew up in Washington, DC then moved to the West Coast, where she got to enjoy the natural beauty of Portland, OR. After 26 years in Portland, she moved back to the East Coast to marry her high school sweetheart and they both live happily here in lower Delaware with their 3 wonderful dogs, Pearly Pants, Terence, and Roxy. When Meegan is not hard at work here at Coastal Veterinary, she enjoys quilting and spending time with her three “woofies” and her husband.

Button

Hospital Cat

Button has been with us since early times of the Coastal Veterinary and has her PhD in ``Purrring`` and patient care. She is always ready to greet our clients, been a surrogate mom to orphan kittens, and a comfort to our sick patients. Button has been instrumental in educating clients on proper piller techniques. And she is often there for clients who need that emotional support that only Button can provide. She is the ``Queen of the Office`` and her favorite past times is eating treats, sleeping, and ``E-scap-e``.

Sherie Knapp

Technician

Sherie began her career in the veterinary field in 2010, and in 2014 she graduated from the Veterinary Technology Program at Delaware Technical and Community College. She is passionate about providing compassionate care for every patient and providing education for all pet owners regarding the health and welfare of their beloved pets. As well as performing her technical duties in patient care, Sherie is also always available to answer client questions and concerns.
Born and raised in Brick, NJ, Sherie moved to Sussex County in 2009. When she is not taking care of patients, Sherie enjoys spending time with friends and family, learning about and completing home improvement projects, and crafting homemade toys for her furry children. Sherie is blessed with a beautiful family including her husband Jim, her three cats Peppy, Rafiki and Evee, her two chinchillas Penelope and Lilly, and an aquarium full of fish.

Chantal Haas

Technician

Chantal has known since her days in high school FFA that veterinary medicine was career for her. While she has been a veterinary technician for four years, her talents do not stop there. Chantal also serves our community as an NREMT and a working member for the Millsboro Fire Department.
Originally from a small town in Pennsylvania, Chantal now calls Selbyville her home. Along with her family pets, Chantal has her own wild, energetic Australian Shepherd named Dancer.

Will Vickers

Veterinary Assistant

As a veterinary assistant, Will jumps in to perform whatever duties help give the patients the very best care, while simultaneously giving the clients the best service possible. When moving back to Bethany Beach after a career as an Information Manager at Dover Air Force Base, Will brought his attention to detail, integrity, IT knowledge and his willingness to go above and beyond for client satisfaction to his position with Coastal Veterinary. His passion for animals is evident in every interaction he has with the patients.

Stacie Loftus

Technician

Stacie started her medical career on the human side, working as a dental hygienist for more than 10 years after earning her Bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene. In 2010, Stacie made the transition to veterinary medicine. With her extensive experience, Stacie is most often found in the surgery suite, managing the surgical and dental procedures at Coastal Veterinary.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Stacie enjoys all the wonderful things Delmarva has to offer such as great restaurants, paddle boarding and spending time with her husband and family. Along with her three children, Stacie is also “mom” to three wonderful dogs and two adorable cats.

Jonathan German

Technician

Jonathan’s animal care experience prior to joining the Coastal Veterinary family in early 2017, has been interesting and varied. Originally from Chicago, Jonathan started his career working for several years as a licensed nuisance wildlife technician in 2000. The desire to travel abroad then led him to a position as a zookeeper and an educator in animal husbandry. Returning to the States, Jonathan continued his zookeeper career before entering the veterinary technician field. Since becoming a veterinary technician, he has worked with dogs, cats, exotic pets and injured wildlife in both an emergency and general practice setting
Jonathan moved to the Eastern Shore in 2013 with his wife and their dog, Boof.

Jenna Joseph

Licensed Technician

After completing the Veterinary Technology Program at Delaware Tech, Jenna went on to pass the national exam, becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2017. Jenna has always been passionate about caring for all types of animals and she hopes to continue her veterinary education by one day earning her Veterinary Technician Specialty designation.
A Seaford Delaware native, Jenna lives with her family, including her cat Pixie.

Jess Hall

Technician

Originally from York, Pennsylvania, Jess moved to St Petersburg, Florida, where she completed the Veterinary Technology Program at St. Petersburg College. After graduating, Jess passed her national veterinary technician exam earning the title of Certified Veterinary Technician. While in Florida, Jess worked for the Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists and Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Services. Since moving to Delaware, Jess has been working with Dr. Staruch.
When Jess is not caring for her patients, she enjoys walking her dogs Remy and Tino around town and on the beach and spending time with her family. Tino, who has only one eye, spends time at the Rehoboth library as part of LEAP (Literary Education Assistance Pups) allowing the children to read to him.

Bethany Blaser

Technician

Bethany has been working in the veterinary field since 2013, when she received her Veterinary Assistant Certification from the University of Texas. Since joining the Coastal Veterinary family, she has made it her mission to care for every pet as she would care for her own.
A Sussex County native, Bethany graduated high school from Indian River High School, where she was very active in FFA. While working in the veterinary field, she continues her studies in pursuit of a college degree in General Business. Her personal pets currently include three horses, two dogs and one cat.

Abby Ramlagan

Veterinary Assistant

Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, Abby earned her Associate’s degree in science from Montgomery College. When not working here at Coastal Veterinary as a Veterinary Assistant, Abby attends classes at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where she is studying pre-veterinary medicine and science. Abby has a special place in her heart for hedgehogs and has a 2 year old African pygmy named Maxwell.

Victoria works as a Veterinary Assistant here at the hospital and started her love of animals two years ago while working at the Millville Pet Stop. She is currently attending classes for her degree in veterinary science at Delaware Technical Institute.

Victoria moved from Bear, Delaware to the Dagsboro area and has lived here most of her life. She is currently striving to get her certification as a veterinary technician. Victoria enjoys the wonderful company of her 2 cats, Ozzy & Isabelle as well as her dog, Lily.

Bryce Cooper

Veterinary Assistant

Bryce works here at Coastal Veterinary as a Veterinary Assistant after coming to us from University of Pittsburgh. He started working in the veterinary field in 2015 at Red Lion Veterinary Hospital and then joined the family at Humane Animal Rescue in Pittsburgh, PA. Bryce is currently studying to become a veterinarian and would like to enter school in 2019.

Bryce is a native to the eastern shore and hails from Elkton, MD. He lived there until leaving for school at the University of Pittsburgh. He enjoys playing bass guitar in a band when not at work and spending time with his cat, Les.

Casey is a veterinary technician at Coastal Veterinary. She got into veterinary medicine thanks to her Grandmother’s love of animals and encouraging her Granddaughter (Casey) to care for them, she has been working the veterinary field since 2014, and is currently working towards getting a certification to become a licensed Veterinary Technician.

Casey has lived most of her life in New Castle, Delaware, she moved to Ocean City, Maryland in 2015 where she has enjoyed this wonderful beach life ever since. Some of her fun activities that she enjoys is field hockey, going to music festivals, and strolling along the Maryland / Delaware beaches with her two delightful dogs, Princess and Blueberry.

Teresa Walsh

Receptionist

When Teresa moved to Delaware from Southern New Jersey, she brought several years of veterinary customer service experience to the Coastal Veterinary team. Inspired by the camaraderie, support and dedication of the staff here, she is passionate about providing excellent and compassionate service to every client.
Here in Delaware, Teresa enjoys reading, visiting with her daughter, walking with her new neighbors, caring for her neighbors’ pets and bicycling to the beach with her husband. Besides her husband and daughter, Teresa’s family includes a dog, three adopted cats, two adopted rabbits, a gerbil and a newt who came from her daughter’s class terrarium ecosystem project.

Diane Forrester

Receptionist

Diane has over 15 years of varied experience in the veterinary field, ranging from customer service to grooming. She enjoys all areas of the veterinary field, and she especially appreciates that there is always something new to learn.
When not working, Diane is kept busy with her beautiful daughter Sara and her two cats, Debo and Little Dude.

Melissa Addis

Receptionist

After years of working as a front desk coordinator for medical offices and salons, Melissa transferred that customer service and scheduling experience to the veterinary field, joining Coastal Veterinary as a receptionist. Having spent many years around animals of all shapes and sizes, Melissa was a natural for working in the veterinary field.
Born and raised in the Delmarva area, Melissa is at home on the Eastern Shore. At home, she has four cats, one chinchilla and a sugar glider.

A true Eastern Shore gal, Ronisha has over six years in the veterinary receptionist field. She feels blessed to be part of the Coastal Veterinary team where she is able to fulfill her desire to help others and the animals she loves.
Ronisha is a proud mother and she loves being surrounded by her family and friends.

Walker Weis

Veterinary Intern

Walker starting working in the veterinary field at the age of 6, with Dr. MaryHelen Staruch. He currently is making excellent grades in school and will surely graduate to further his schooling to be a domesticated animal veterinary, just like his role model, Dr. MaryHelen.

A true “Delawarian”, he has lived in Delaware all his life. Walker’s family consisting of Mom, “Bandit” his furry rescue doggie, and “Loki” a kitty rescue, that is mischievous as his name sake.

Emma

Veterinary Intern

Emma began as an intern at Coastal Veterinary, which led to joining the staff for the summer. Emma began her veterinary career during her freshman year at Indian River High School. She has loved animals since a very early age and hopes to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine.

Yanya

Veterinary Intern

While Yonya just recently started working in the field in 2017, she has had a passion for working with animals since she was a small child. When not performing her veterinary intern duties here at Coastal Veterinary, she is an honor roll student in her sophomore year of high school and also a student athlete.
A native to the Bethany Beach area, at home Yonya has three cats and a leopard gecko whom she loves very much.

Chloe

Veterinary Intern

Chloe is one of three interns here at Coastal Veterinary and she has been with us since 2016. A sophomore at Indian River High School, she earned high honors last year and is enrolled in all honor classes again this year. After high school graduation, Chloe plans to attend college.
Chloe has been passionate for all animals and their well-being since her early childhood and she believes that all animals should be treated with the love and kindness they deserve. At home, she showers that love on her beautiful dogs, Shyla and Ariel; her fish, Snow; and her fancy bearded dragon, Thor.
